Contemporary artist Jim Swift has studied at the Atlin Centre for the Arts in Northern BC where the clarity and saturation of stars in the night sky heightened his sensory, physical and spiritual awareness - where he felt he could "almost reach out and touch the universe". His interests in mysticism and shamanism in aboriginal cultures influences his contemporary abstract paintings, as does the energy of untouched wilderness and his encounters with wildlife including bears, wolves, deer, whales and dolphins. Jim feels that music and his aboriginal lineage, Metis, also influence his work.
